SA Coil and ground

To Bob M, Johnt, Gene-We talked about a coil and hotter plugs earlier. I have gotten both but my tractor is a negative ground-book says positive if I am reading it correctly. Can I leave the battery as neg. ground when I put new coil and plugs in? That is the way it has been since I got it, but has never run well yet. The battery is six volt in answer to earlier post. (three plugs in top, small battery)
