Martin, I bought a B250 that had not run in 8 years, after cleaning out the old fuel I couldn't start it without ether. I believed it was an injector problem, so I started adding an injector cleaner to the fuel tank and after a few tanks of fuel , it would start quite nicely without ether. I use a product called"Three In One" Diesel Conditioner. It cleans injectors, lubes the pump and removes moisture. The injectors get clogged up on the tips and slobber fuel instead of misting it into the chamber so start up is hard. I will also recommend a quart of automatic transmission fluid in the fuel. An Allis Chalmers dealer told me to do that as it will lube the pump and remove moisture. I have had great success with that injector cleaner and I put it in my 584 periodically as well. Diesels need good battery to spin them over quickly then compression and fuel(misted fuel), a slobbering injector will make starts hard, but once the tractor engine is at operating temp it will burn the fuel regardless of it slobbering in or misting in. I would say my B250 starts easy, but I do give it glow plug on the first start up of the day. Once its warm you can shut it off and restart easily. I swear by injector cleaner, but injectors may have to be taken out and cleaned..for the cost of a cleaner I would give it a try in an instant, this has worked for me guys, good luck with your tractors...Mike in Exeter Ontario
