I thought I was doing a good deed by replacing the gear oil in the differential of my 43 H, what I took out of there was the consistency of mud …however after dumping in 6 gallons of new gear oil, I find that I have a pretty major leak (drip drip drip) at the left inboard axle carrier housing. Reading my service manual it appears that I can pull the tire, outer bearing assembly and get the housing off to get at the gasket. If anyone has accomplished this I would appreciate any advice before starting….and a few questions: Can I just slide if out enough to clean and apply RTV Should I purchase a new OEM gasket? is there a kit containing the felt washer, oil seal, …etc. (I guess I should look on this site) or can I make gaskets or use liquid gasket stuff. thanks in advance
