I have read all your posts, and am in agreement with you. I am 68 and have been getting annual blood tests and physicals since I was 50. At that time my cholesterol was a little high, blood pressure was and still is ok. Some people have high blood pressure and low cholesterol, others have high cholesterol and low blood pressure. Both contribute to heart attacks and strokes. The point I want to make is the cholesterol deposits restrict flow and eventually cause high blood pressure. My guess is your blood pressure was ok before your cholesterol built up, as it built up, your blood pressure went up. All of us geezers have some "hardening of the arteries" which results in high blood pressure. The root cause of a lot of heart attacks and strokes is cholesterol, which when accompanied by high blood pressure can be deadly. I say this because a good blood pressure unit can be bought for $50 -- but, at this point in time you can't check your own cholesterol.
