I have read many, maybe not all of your posts, on stroke. I do agree we need to watch our health, and encourage others to do so. But, I personally am not convinced strokes are "totally preventable". I am 58, had surgery on both carotoids and a by pass from below my heart to my legs as there was no blood flow in 1998 (age 50). Legs are again plugged, and they stinted my right caratoid last fall, as it was pluged again. I do not have high cholesterol or high blood pressure. The Drs. have me on 1 aspirn a day. The Drs. say the cause, bottom line is hereditary. My Dad was incapacitated by a stroke in 1995 and passed away in 1997. My only purpose in this post is to share my experience and if someone has a stroke, that it is possibly they could not avoid it, even under Drs. care.
