VAJerry is correct. If yours has a carb drain, see that fuel will run out of it for several minutes at a wheat straw size stream. If not it is not clean. The needle and seat can be clogged. If it does come out nice, flakes of rust/varnish can still cover vital openings in the carb.

Take off the air cleaner hose at the carb, and have someone crank it with your hand over the air intake. aaaaaif it sucks like your hand will be pulled in (it shoild) you will pull away. If it does, good. If not there may be need for a compression check.

Putting a bit (1CC) of gasoline in each cylinder through the plug hole, will fire it up for 3-4 seconds. if that works, it is fuel.

Pull a spark plug wire and hold it with an insulated pliers about 1/4" away from the block (no wet fuel around) and check for a nice fat blue spark. Not yellow, and not wispy. If none, that is the place to start.

There are many "C won't start" entrys in the archives. Give them a shot if this does not work. JimN. Please let us know what you find, the solution is more valuable than the Ideas for future fixes.
