You need to remove the drain pans from the bottom of the final drives to drain the oil. Once you have cleaned and replaces the pans, you'll find the fill plugs just above the drain pans on the inside of the finals. If memory serves me well this morning, I believe they are towards the front of the tractor. If replacing the oil doesn't fix the noise, you'll need to replace the bearings.

Paying to much for something at an auction is not unheard of, I brought home a Gibson Model A for more than I paid for my 48 Super A! Eventually you'll forgive yourself and enjoy the tractor.
