Tweeter, if theres a battery current discharge path heres one way to find it. If you remove the hot ungrounded batery cable from its post and place the wire and alligator clamp end of a test light to it (leave battery cable unattached) and touch the probe tip end of the test lamp to a frame ground it lights up i.e. it finds a current return path (like a SHORT) correct????? Sooooooooo how I do it is take the probe end and touch n prod n probe it to different terminal and wiring locations TO SEE WHERE IT LIGHTS UP I.E. THE SHORT. NOTE The tests n probes need to be made on the upstream BAT input terminals on like switches cuz if its probed to the downstream side of switches where the loads are it would naturally light up since it finds a ground through the loads. WHAT YOURE LOOKING FOR is short return paths that SHOULD NOT be present. The input BAT terminals on switches should not offer a current return path when OFF unless the switch is bad or a wire is shorted etc. Other methods are to remove wires one at a time and see if n when the shorting path stops or if a wire is removed and momentarily scratched/contacted up againt a terminal that has a current return shorting path, a small spark will happen i.e. if theres no current flow available there wouldnt be any sparks when you attach a hot wire to it. DO NOT be making sparks at the batery especially its top. Common places to find a short are frayed worn wires or switches or mis wired gennys or VR's or alternators etc. Best wishes n God Bless John T
