Here is a cheap ignition tester From an electronics store (Radioshack) buy an NE-2 Neon bulb (very cheap) put flexible wires on it that are about 6ft long (Lamp zip cord twinlead is great) put the lamp and end of the wire in a rubber tube so it is recessed about a half inch down the tube. put an alligator clip on one of the leads, and leave the other one unfinished. To use it ground the alligator clip on bare metal near the engine. wrap 10 turns of the unfinished end around the coil wire like a spring, with even windings,(or a sparkplug wire if you suspect a single cylinder of malfunction), and tape it in place. I like to keep the wrap on a spare coil wire to ease installation. Take the rubber business end up to the operators platform. When running the tractor, the bulb will flash once for each cylinder. When ideling it will be visible flashing, when at full throttle it will appear to be on all the time. If the ignition fails, the bulb will be very dim, or it will go out entirely. Good luck, let us know what you find, JimN
