Baling hay with the 560 this weekend when it suddenly cranked hard to the right all on it's own. Found that the splines are totally stripped out of the frontmost yoke on the steering shaft, and that the splines on the shaft going into the bolster look pretty bad as well. Noticed that there was a roll pin going through the yoke and shaft, which is now broken. I'm guessing that the splines stripped out a long time ago and someone drilled the shaft and yoke for a roll pin as a quick fix, as none of my parts diagrams show a roll pin in this location. Reading through the manual, it looks like you'd pretty much have to remove and disassemble the whole bolster to replace the shaft, if you can even get a new shaft. Has anyone run into this problem before? Is putting another roll pin in there an acceptable fix? How about a 1/4" grade 8 bolt instead of a roll pin? Seems to me this would have been deadly had it happened going down the road. Saftey is my #1 priority, but I'd like to avoid tearing down the whole front end if possible.
