45 amps? Alright!! A diode as 'old" suggests will solve the running on problem. Alternatively you can stick a small lamp - like a #164 instrument panel/side marker bulb in a suitable lamp holder - in the line between the ignition switch and the alternator #1 terminal. The resistance of the lamp will keep the engine from running on after the ignition is turned off. Also the lamp will work as a “idiot light” for the alternator, same as on your car…
