Recently bought a one owner 1400 hour 404 that is very straight and original. Perfect for a restoration. Has some leaks that will need addressed but currently am dealing with a carb problem. The tractor sat for about 3 years and so the tank and carb were varished up. Got the gas tank and fuel line cleaned up but am having problems with the carb. I took the carb apart(marvel screibler sp?) and cleaned out all the ports and needle valve with carb cleaner. Everything seems to move freely. But when I start the tractor up it will run for about a minute and then die. After a little cranking the engine will start and run again but then will die. I have even plumbed a seperate fuel tank to the carb to see if I was getting enough gas into the bowl and that didnot fix the problem. I checked the spark as the engine dies and the plugs are still firing so I don't think its spark relate either. One note, if I let the gas on overnight the clean air side of the carb has gas in it the next morning?? Needle valve not sealing? Well I'm stumped, if anyone has any ideas I'd sure appreciate them. I have not yet put a complete carb kit in it, $110 so I'm waiting to make sure that's the route I have to go. Andy
