You will recieve several replies telling you that you have a carburetor problem, but I think the first thing to check is the ignition coil. If the coil is weak, it will not fully ignite the fuel, thus the burning eyes symptoms, and if the coil gets weaker as the tractor runs, eventually the engine will just stop. Next time the engine stops, lay your hand on the coil, carefully, it should be warm, but not so hot that you can't touch it. If it's hot, replace it.
