Did you use a ridge reamer on the sleeve/cylinder before tring to pull the piston?? If you didn't then that where your problem is. Slleve/cylinder wear and the rings leave what is called a ridge at the top, most of the time its about a 1/4 or so tall and if the ridge isn't removed you will have problems pulling the picton and whats worse if you use the same sleeves you can brake rings when you put the picton back in
