If you think theres a noise or problem in center housing.Stop cranking or shut engine off with transmission in gear and main clutch disengaged and see if it does the same thing.If so it may be in the PTO drive unless theres something wrong with the main clutch or bearing. Don't know if turning engine you mean CW or CCW setting on seat or faceing tractor from front,but if T/A is good engine will not turn backwards unless T/A handle is pulled back and the T/A clutch is releasing. Also if noise or binding stops when main clutch is disengaged theres a problem in T/A system or transmission drive train. Some tractors will rattle on shut down with trans.in neutral and clutch engaged and not have any problems.
