Trivial detail here, and I know what you meant, but actually the 600/650 series DID get a "new" hood that was different than the 9 series tractors.
The 9's had their guages mounted under a "bump" in the rear center of the hood like the H's and M's. On the 600/650's, the guages were moved to an insturment panel that attached to the steering column, and the hood tops were flat.

They still did, however, have that raised rib on 'em.
