The vent (bleed valve) was used when you are set up for 1-way operation since the oil level in the Lift=All pump was continually changing with use. When set up for 2-way or live hydraulics, the vent can be closed to reduce the oil vapor slobber and help keep dirt out of the system. You can get the bleed valve at your IH dealer.
