Power shaft problems

We have a 1941 Farmall "M" and would like to use
the powershaft for brush cutting. The powershaft seems to slip when it gets under
heavy load. Is there a built-in slip clutch or is some other
mechanism slipping when it gets under load. Let me know if you can help me.
