1949 IH Super A

I have recently purchased a Super A IH tractor and I am in the process of restoring it. I am trying to determine if the battery connections on the tractor are Negative to starter and positive ground or negative ground and positive to starter. I have been informed that positive is ground. I am trying to verify this claim.
