If you"re asking what it"s "supposed" to be, then it should have a positive ground electrical system.

If you"re asking what it IS, here are a couple of things to look for to help figure it out:

1. Alternator vs. generator: The presence of an automotive-type alternator on the front corner of the tractor is a sure sign of a 12V negative ground conversion.
2. Battery: If the battery has only 3 caps, and the terminals are on diagonally-opposite corners, it"s a 6V battery. The positive terminal will be connected to ground if it"s positive ground. A 12V battery will have 6 caps, or will be the maintenance-free type, and the terminals will be on the same side.

A stock system can work as either positive or negative ground as long as you don"t have any accessories (i.e. radio, CB, fan, etc), and the generator has been properly polarized. Again, it"s "supposed" to be positive ground.
