I've been waiting for something on fuel gauges/sending units to surface. I was, before retiring because of health problems, a non restricted state licensed electrical contractor class II and unrestricted low voltage contractor (no TOOT TOOT intended). Nothing I ever studied had to do with tractors or cars. Always indrustial. I take notes and remember that John T is a electrical engineer but might have been on the bigger end also?. Question. I changed my IH 240U to 12 volts negative ground and would like to get the fuel gauge working after the restoration. I have checked the ballast resistor out and don't think that will even come close to putting six volts on the gauge. I would think I need a small ? OHM resistor inline to the gauge from the 12 volt battery. I'm open to any suggestions. I've been using the old standby hickory stick and it never lies. GA Dave.
