Super A with Exhaust Lift

I've been offered what I think is a Super A. But it has not run for a year or so,apparently the Magneto does not work. Is their a way I can test the magneto or it's parts to see what it's problem may be?. I've only worked on cars and a Fergy TE20 before so I need some advice even if the advice is don't but it!
