Choke Rod on H too short

I recently bought a choke rod at a swap meet. The seller said it came off a farmall M, so I thought it would be long enough, but its about one inch too short...Is there a special way these rods are suppose to be bent and run up to the carb. Where does it go, over the fresh air tube to the carb, or under...I think its me that is making this choke rod seem too short, so any help would be greatly appreciated, or was I sold a choke rod for a smaller model farmall H?? Is that possible...
