Jim - Andy pretty well sums up the possible causes. And generally it’s a combination of several of these that result in sloppy steering. A couple more things to add to Andy’s comments: 1 - If the worm gear is a full 360 deg type and the teeth are worn in the area where they contact the steering shaft worm, removing the gear and reinstalling it rotated 180 deg will present unworn teeth to the worm. However if has a sector type (“half moon”) gear the gear cannot be rotated. 2 - A worn lower bolster bushing does not affect steering wobble very much. However steering tightness is VERY sensitive to a worn upper bushing and/or pivot shaft. Any discernable fore and aft movement at the top end of the pivot shaft is a bad thing. Not a big deal to replace the upper bushing and a new one is inexpensive. However you must disassemble the steering mechanism and drop the pivot shaft to get at it. ---- Punch below for a look inside the steering a Super H. The Super M is essentially identical...
