About ten years ago, I found a new TA for something like a 340. It was in a bunch of parts that were bought at a dealer's liquidation auction. The new owner had tons of stuff in two forty foot trailers. I paid $150 for the TA. I changed out the output shaft which is called "Shaft, transmission drive and secondary sun gear" and installed the corresponding SMTA part. The SMTA part number is 361 288 R1. It works fine. I beg to differ with anyone who says a 300 TA does not look like a 400 TA. You probably couldn't tell unless you laid them side by side. The one with the bigger output fits the bigger tractor series. I suspect that there were some changes made along the way but the late units will fit the early tractors by replacing the shaft where necessary. BTW, most TA's can be made operational by replacing only the ramp and rollers. This is what the rebuilders do. Of course, I am sure they inspect and test as well.
