My old "M" did the same this last spring. I shut off the gas, took off the gas line to the carb, turned the gas back on, no gas-----the gas line shut off on the bottom of the tank was plugged ! Cleaned out the tank, hooked it all back up, and been trouble free since. My 2 cents.
