Ok folks, here"s the deal. 1955 300 RC. Owned it for about 12 years. Over the years did the usual tune ups, carb rebuild (once several years ago). Always fired right up, never used the choke. Started getting hard to start, then would not start at all. To date I"ve changed the points, condencer, ( plugs are not new but all fire)checked the valve back lash at .020 cold, rebuilt the carb, replaced the float(finding it with gas in it) replaced the coil, with new and other used ones, hooked it up with and without the resister, put a hot(new) battery on it, checked the timing to the first mark, removeing #1 plug to assure both valves were closed and the piston was at the top. NOTHING, again, and again, NOTHING not even a hint of a hit.(fresh gas by the way). I"ve restored many of these over the years, and brought many back from the dead (Letter series, and hundred series) but "OLD FAITHFUL" wont go. It does not smoke unless you but a heck of a strain on her for a long time,(Hours) and even then, it"s just a wisp of blue every now and then. I hate to admit it, but I"m stumped!! What have I missed?
