Hey Charlie, My Grandpa was one of the biggest potato grower around the area when I was young.Just about every one in a 4 town area or more new who Alex was. His ground was all nice sand even had a few old grave yards on the property because it was so nice of sand. I do not remember how he planted I was to young but he had a nice probably 2 row maybe 4 I dont remember digger that the last I knew my brother still had he was offered 1500 cash for it and he said no way. But any way he had an H, M and 530 or 630 case tractor and when he would dig them we would get like a quarter a bushel to pick them up for him. Then they would go in the barn or root cellar with about 12" wide roller conver's we would grab a wood or steel bushel crate off the hay wagon and put it on the rollers give it a push and one of my brothers would be on the other end to stack them. It was real fun work for a 7 year old and very good dough. That was one thing about good ol grande pa He always paid good had good soda pop to drink when ever we wanted. He was one of those dairy farmers that got the same price for milk in the late 60s early seventy's as the farmers get now and a 30 cow operation plus potatoes and Hay selling and he paid us boy's real well. How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
