The steering wheel on the 400 is interchangeable with earlier tractors. The cowl has some differences too. I think there are holes in the 450 to select double or single acting hydraulic valve operation. The most obvious difference is in the fast hitch if it has one. Notwithstanding that, the 400's have a machined flat spot on the left side rear of the frame lid. It is next to the battery box. There is a small difference in the rear steering support on the 450. There is a small 1/4" horizontal hole there but I can't remember what it is for. Anyway check all the casting codes. There has to be at least a dozen of them. I am guessing the last digit would be Z,A,B,C,D corresponding to the years 1954 TO 1958.
