I had a good time at the fair. Dad and I enjoyed a breakfast at the Lions Club food stand - he was president about 30 years ago. Ate pie, batter-fried cheese curds from the local creamery, mini-donuts, more pie, home made chili at the 4-H stand and purchased a whole cherry and apple pie at the end of the day for $12 at the stand. The antique agricultural exhibit numbers continue to increase at the fair. Hand tools, cream seperator and fanning mill to toy equipment and full-size tractors - all housed in a tile building built in 1903-04. Reroofed a few years ago and a blacktop floor installed. Saw a pyramid 10 Belgian horse hitch being lined up and pulling a wagon. Our native county son - Orion Samuelson [WGN and RFD TV] addressed the grandstand crowd and then harness racing. A ride on a 70 foot ferris wheel all intermingled with fair food. Some drizzle in mid-day, but otherwise great weather. Sorry to hear some no longer have a county fair. Feel fortunate that ours in continually ranked among the top seven in the State of Wisconsin. A very good fair board and many volunteers. Donated to the fair as they are looking to build a large commercial building next year and eliminate tent rental and include more restroooms. Our grounds a maintained year-round and look great. A true "harvest" fair with flowers, fruits and garden produce along with crops that are harvested at their peak. Great loyal crowds and, did I mention food! Already looking forward to next year, just 360 days away. Always begins with entry day the second Wednesday after Labor Day. The 151st in 2007. Web address is www.vernoncountyfair.com Looking forward to sharing the homemade cherry and apple pies with dad - he is too. Hope you folks enjoyed your day.

Since this can be extremely difficult, you may want to fabricate the item or purchase a modern replacement temporarily, but eventually, you s
