merv, that is great news actually! i think you are right about the sputtering and dying. that sure sounds like running out of fuel. i forgot to ask before, does your's have a fuel pump? most did, but after some trouble a lot went to straight out of the tank on farm crawlers, i guess because they might not go uphill much and the tank is pretty low at the bottom, almost to low for gas to flow to the carb. when you choke it , you would think it pick up a little fuel, but the backfire makes me wonder. usually this is lean acting. check that fuel flow. thanks, russ
