The MCV valve should be the same on 454,464,574,674,484,584,684,784,495,595,695.
There were two different hydraulic pumps, a 12.5 GPM on 684 and below and 784 and 884 had a 13 GPM pump.

The purpose of the MCV is to split the output of the 12 GPM pump and supply about 3 GPM to PTO and power steering and the remaining 9 GPM to the 3pt hitch and remotes. This is accomplished with a valve body with channels in it and valves with some springs and "O" rings and inlet/outlet ports.

If you have the mechanical know how a good shop service manual and an air compressor and some very fine emery cloth, for $1500 I would try overhauling the MCV. It is probably nothing more than a piece of dirt or broken "O" ring lodged in one of the ports or valves.
