Geoff, Frame rails are same length. On MD and SMD the distance from tapped holes on side of bolster where frame rails bolt is different, On the diesel the distance from the holes is longer to the radiator mounting slots and the vertical steering shaft than gas bolster. When they went to bolster like used on SMTA they made bolsters the same for gas and Diesel. Thats why the MTA gas uses same length hood as Diesel.Also same length steering worm shaft as MD.
