Changing the oil & filter didn't help mine either Jon, once it's "gone bad", it's too late. My 2 cents is there's gummy deposits in the valves, and they can't slide the way they have to. Kind of like a carb. thats all gummed up, we don't replace those at 300.00 ea, we clean & put new parts in. The service manual shows the MCV exploded, I don't know how mechanical you are, but I wouldn't hesitate to tear mine apart if needed, especially to save the kind of money you're talking apart.
