Not all Super MTA's have the live PTO, but they all had live hydraulics unless it was optioned without hydraulics. Some were prepared for the IPTO, some were given the transmission driven PTO, others were prepared for the transmission driven PTO, and others were given the IPTO. The transmission driven PTO will look like any M or Super M PTO unit (more rounded and fairly small in size) while the IPTO will be a large more or less rectangular housing with a little breather cap on top. If the TA is bad, it may be able to be operated in direct drive (lever forward) mode but if the entire unit was destroyed, no speeds would work.
