You have already received some very good answers to your request. If the serial number plate is still on the tractor is should have the chassis code of SM-TA and a six digit s/n between 60001 and 83523. Letters which may follow the six digits could also define the configuration of the tractor as it left the factory. The letter "P" indicates IPTO attachment without T/A. Letter "R" indicates T/A with provision for transmission-driven PTO. Letter "S" indicates T/A with provision for 540 IPTO. This information is from Guy Fay"s IH Tractor Data Book. Hope this helps.
