P. S.... The first thing I would do is to clean the points by drawing a clean piece of white cardstock through the closed points several times, followed by spraying any remaining debris off of the contact faces, using electrical contact cleaner, and allowing it to air-dry. If you follow the directions in the manual I linked, and take out 3 screws holding the complete rotor drive to the mag, and remove it as a unit, nothing can get out of time, as the mag shaft is "D"-shaped, and the complete rotor drive will only go back on the mag one way. DO NOT remove the little cover right next to the rotor, which is held on with 2 screws, or you will wind up with the rotor shaft/gear out, and out of time. Not TOO serious, though, as there are timing marks on the gear teeth, as shown in the manual.
