It depends on how old your H is, whether the pump will bolt up or not. Somewhere around 1950 or so, IH beefed up the timing gears and changed the design of the front cover to accomodate the live hydraulic pump. I know it was 1950 for the M, but it may not necessarily be 1950 for the H. For sure, if your H was made in the 1940s, the pump will not bolt up without replacing the timing gears and front engine cover. The other guy in this thread that modified the original cover, while it works, it is hardly ideal. He's playing with fire so to speak, trying to run that pump on the weak original timing geartrain. Even the later heavy geartrain isn't enough in some cases. There are other live pumps that bolt up to the original timing gear train, but they are no longer produced, and are tough to find.
