The 684 is 1 step under the 784. 784 has 67 hp, I forget whether that is pto or drawbar, 684 will be a little smaller. I am in the minority on this forum, but the 784 I drove was a true lemon, always broken down. Everything from the injection pump in the first 10 hours to the front spindle in the next 100, to some engine problem my boss refused to fix before it had 1000 hrs on it. We (state agency) finally sold it to the lowest bidder. It was not abused. I think the assembly line must have been mad at IH, perhaps that was their last big strike and the janitors were building it, don't know. As I said no one else has had the problems with that line of tractors that we did. As to your prospective one, any bugs have likely long since been fixed.
