Got my gascap, WTH?

I'm not sure if the old cap on my 300u is stock. It doesnt lock and is a chrome color, with knurls on the edge and a slight dome on top, about 1" tall total.
I got my new replacement cap (for free = ) ) so it will lock on. I havent put it on yet, but this thing is HUGE. It almost looks like an oil filter for a honda or something. It's black too, weird. Is everyone else's the same?
