Sounds more like a 8000+ hour tractor. Maybe that tach has been swapped at sometime in the past or someone really pounded it back and forth with the loader that was on it? If I remeber it had around 4500 Hrs? A 966 should not have bad carrier bearings with that low hours. Good thing you had it tore down before it grenaded and showered the rest of the trans with peices of metal. Shows how hard it is to diagnose gear noises over the internet. LOL
