IT would not have anything to do with the rotor timing unless the gear is stripped and not turning all that does is time the spark for each tower you will still get spark if its off just out of time. How hot of spark do you have? take the coil wire hold it next to the ground screw on the side of the mag and give her a trip hold it about a 1/4" away and see what you have for spark. Nice Blue? Lazy yellow? If all looks good switch out that cap and rotor and see what happens. MagMan
