Not a hard fix at all. Sounds like you caught the inner bearing failure quickly.
Remove PTO and drain the tranny, probe around in there with a magnet on a rod or shaft. Support the bull gear exactly where it is with a piece of cut to fit wood wedge. Pull the axle and replace the bearing/bearings as needed.
