Yes, the 826 was built in Rock Island, IL. The 826 was the successer to the 756 really. When the hydro trans was an option, IH decided to soup up the 756. Used the Germsn 358 diesel-much longer stroke, bigger radiator, etc and was going to call it the Super 756 or 756 Series II.
ended up being the 826. Also introduced at the same time was the 1026, which was a turboed 856. The 826 had option of regular gear tran or hydro, I think all 1026's were hydros.
