Bill: The 06 and 56 series, were never assembled in Europe, however 26 was. Up until the mid 1970 we paid a duty on every Farmall coming to Canada from the US. European tractors came in here duty free. That was all because it suited a couple of Canadian companies. Skid loaders were an interesting one. Thomas at NB were not supplying 10% of the market in Canada, thus you could reclaim the duty paid on US built skid steers. That was in place when I bought my first Case skid steer in 72, and gone by 76 when I bought a second Case loader. The duties gone from equipment was part of the auto pack and not free trade.
