Ok i got the pump taken apart, the smooth shaft has no grooves, the other day when i got done using it the oil was a little over full nothing bad, but this morning when i went out there was no hyd and all the hyd fluid went into the engine, the tractor has been sitting all summer, could have a seel been craked from sitting then when i started using it break right out? I think the seal is completly gone, is there sopposed to be seels inside of the cover or body berings? When i have that smooth shaft out i can move it back and forth, but not side to side, is there sopposed to be a seel on the top or bottom sides of thoses?, when i look down the part of the pump that the shaft came out of all i can see is one seel and there looks like there is a spot for another behind it, is there sopposed to be one there? Thanks for all your help!

The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
