If you want to keep the 6v Genny I had mine rebuilt for my 41 H this past summer it cost 90. that included the volt reg too. I have never had a problem starting my H in the winter on 6v ya might want to redo wiring for 6v only or 12v only, myself I am partial to 6v cause I haven't experienced any problems with it and it is original
