With the conflicting Chevy/Ford stampings, it's hard to tell for sure just based on written description....although I'd bet a nickle they're Ford. If you have pics, posting them on here would be a good plan. Also- check out the axle(s). If the have a single vertical(up and down) hole through them about 8 inches in from the hub on each side, they're most likely Ford. Ford was also really good back in the day to have the word "FORD" cast into most parts.... Chevy axles would have a flat pad for paralell(sp) leaf springs(two springs per axle running the same direction as the frame rails) to mount with 4 bolt holes in it.
