With the low side not operational, it means you need new rollers and possibly the ramp they ride in. That's all internal stuff and doesn't affect the gear carrier from acting like a drive shaft in direct drive. I have a TA that was welded up while still in the tractor. The planet gears are arc welded to the carrier. I am not sure why the previous owner did this but someone might offer a reason. The tractor runs fine and I don't expect any problems on the high side. If you have access to a welder, you could do the same. If you still have any doubts about buying the tractor, consider the number of malfunctioning TA tractors that change hands every year. For the most part they remain in operation and deliver dependable service. Now go buy your tractor and let the next buyer fix the TA. I use the TA in my 504 when plowing snow but I could live without it.
