The breakdown voltage of the condensors is in the 200 Volt to 600 Volt range, whether for a 6-Volt or 12-Volt ignition system. If there is no ballast resistor used, and one is needed, primary current will be excessive, shortening breaker point life. However, the condensor shouldn't be affected.
